February: a trip to visit the Moomins in Naantali - the sea was frozen and beautiful. The sun shone all day.
March: a drive to Helsinki: these are the rocky outcrops along the motorway - gaps were blasted through the rocks to allow the roads to be built. At this time of year you can see the frozen waterfalls as the snow melts & refreezes on the vertical surfaces.
March again: just as we were starting to think that spring was on it's way; the sun was shining, the snow was melting and then a sudden snow storm overnight.... the next day was sunny again but the car still had to be cleared! This view was from inside... the driver's side window!
April: Good Friday: we went for a family meal on a restaurant boat and while we were eating there was a crowd gathering across the river, looking upstream at something... it was the ice breaking up!
The daffodils are in pots on the Theatre Bridge and I missed the picture of the snow still on the river through them! Only lasted a day or two...
...and now, the snow has virtually all gone, the river is flowing, the temperatures are rising and I even spotted some bulbs poking their heads out of next door's garden! Real Spring next I think!
